Land Acknowledgement

To honor the Indigenous peoples who have lived on this land for thousands of years, we acknowledge that the Royal Canadian Legion is located on the traditional and unceded territory of the Algonquin and Anishinaabe people. We recognize and respect the Algonquin and Anishinaabe people as the past, present, and future caretakers of this land, and we strive to work in partnership with them towards reconciliation and healing.

We recognize the importance of creating a welcoming and inclusive environment for all individuals, and we are committed to working towards this goal in partnership with the Algonquin and Anishinaabe people and all those who share our values of respect, equity, and inclusivity.

We are grateful to have the opportunity to be present in this territory.

Diversity and Inclusion

As an organization that strives to support veterans and their families, we understand the importance of creating a welcoming and inclusive environment for all individuals, regardless of their background or identity.

Diversity and inclusion are essential values that are at the heart of the Legion’s mission. We believe that every person should have the opportunity to feel safe and accepted within our community, and we are committed to fostering an environment that promotes respect, equity, and inclusivity.

The Legion is committed to promoting diversity and inclusion within all of our programs and initiatives. We recognize the unique contributions that individuals from different backgrounds and identities bring to our organization, and we believe that diversity is a strength that should be celebrated and embraced. To achieve this goal, we have taken steps to ensure that our policies and practices are inclusive and welcoming to all. We are working on a training program to help our staff and volunteers better understand and address issues of diversity and inclusion, and we have established a code of conduct that prohibits discrimination and harassment based on any individual’s identity or background.

In addition, we are actively working to promote diversity and inclusion within our membership. We are committed to creating a welcoming and supportive environment for all veterans and their families, regardless of their gender, race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, or other identity.

We recognize that diversity and inclusion are ongoing commitments, and we will continue to work towards creating a more inclusive and equitable organization. We welcome feedback from our members and the broader community on ways that we can improve and strengthen our efforts towards diversity and inclusion.

The Royal Canadian Legion is committed to promoting diversity and inclusion within our organization and the broader community.
